Commission a portrait in Luxembourg

A portrait painted entirely by hand, in oil or acrylic, for a family, a couple, or a figure that carries real meaning. Each commission is considered individually, not produced to order.

Most "custom portraits" sold online are a standardised product. A commissioned portrait is a different proposition entirely — conceived for you specifically, and approved before a single brushstroke is made.

How a Portrait Commission Works

From first conversation to finished piece

  • An Initial Conversation

Every commission begins with a conversation about the subject, the occasion, and where the piece will be displayed. This is also where reference photos are reviewed — a family gathering, a couple's favourite picture, a pet in their best light, or a portrait sitting for a company.

  • A Concept, Approved Before Painting Begins

From those references, I put together a concept covering composition, scale and style, so the finished piece is fully agreed before any paint is applied. Nothing is left to interpretation once painting starts.

  • Painted by Hand, Without Shortcuts

The portrait is painted in oil or acrylic, worked from the approved concept with the same care and attention given to a large-scale mural — likeness and detail take priority over speed. Depending on the project, this stage alone can take anywhere from a few weeks to several months.

  • Delivery & Care

Once complete, the finished piece is photographed before it's carefully prepared and shipped. Framing can be arranged on request, along with care guidance so the portrait keeps its quality for years to come.

What Kind of Portraits Can Be Commissioned

Family, companions, and companies

  • Family & Couple Portraits

A parent, a couple, or a family gathered into a single composition — commissioned as a lasting piece for the home, or as a gift marking a significant occasion.

  • Pet Portraits

A pet's likeness preserved with the same technical care given to any portrait commission — a quietly personal piece, painted with real attention to detail.

  • Portraits for Companies

A founder, a retiring executive, or a figure closely tied to a brand — painted as a piece for the office or as part of a company's own history. The process is the same as a personal commission, with the subject and purpose agreed directly with your team.

Portrait Sizes & Formats

Scaled to where the piece will live

Portraits are painted at the scale the piece calls for — from a considered studio format through to large-format work closer to the scale of a mural, suited to a space with real presence: an entrance hall, a stairwell, an office. The format is matched to where the piece will live, rather than fitted to a fixed catalogue size.

Portrait Commission Pricing

Priced individually, discussed directly

Portrait commissions are priced individually, reflecting the scale, complexity and time a hand-painted piece requires. Pricing is shared directly as part of an initial conversation, once the scope of the commission is understood.

Spanish mural artist, based between Luxembourg & Trier

I'm Dani Delgado, and portrait is where I do my strongest work. Most of my mural commissions are portraits painted at large scale, which means the precision I bring to a building-sized wall is the same precision that goes into a commissioned canvas.

I'm also studying Business Administration, which is reflected in how every commission is run: a clear concept agreed before painting begins, a realistic timeframe, and nothing left unresolved between the first conversation and the finished piece.

Based in Luxembourg — delivered internationally

Every portrait is painted in Luxembourg and Trier, then carefully prepared and shipped directly to you. Because the piece is created here and delivered afterward, a commission isn't limited to Luxembourg or the surrounding region — it can be sent wherever you are.

Frequently Asked Questions

About commissioning a portrait

How much does a custom portrait cost?+

Portrait commissions are priced individually and shared directly once the scope of the piece is discussed. Get in touch with your reference photos and a note on size or occasion to start the conversation.

How long does a portrait commission take?+

Depending on the project, a portrait commission can take anywhere from one to three months, from the first conversation to the finished piece. Scale and complexity are the main factors, and a realistic timeframe is confirmed as part of the initial conversation, before painting begins.

Can you paint from an old or low-quality photo?+

Often, yes, though results depend on how much detail the photo shows. If a reference photo is unclear, this is addressed early — sometimes combining more than one photo gives a better result than relying on a single image.

Can a portrait be a surprise gift?+

Yes. If the piece is intended as a surprise, this is simply noted at the start, and communication and delivery are planned around keeping it that way.

Do you ship portraits internationally?+

Yes. Portraits are painted in Luxembourg and Trier and shipped internationally, carefully prepared for the journey so the piece arrives exactly as intended, wherever you are.
